Each leaf is hand crafted in 9ct gold, wiith a soft brushed finish to mimic the softness of new leaves. The top leaf hides your dormouse as she sleeps, so when you wear your brooch, she is your secret, kept safe until you choose to open the bramble leaf to reveal her in her crocheted gold nest. Snug as a, well, dormouse in a nest! I like to think this little one is fast asleep bescause she's stuffed herself full of the juicy blackberries that surround her. Inspired by the tight cluster of buds that cover the hedgerows in Spring, waiting to burst into life, freshwater pearls emerge from hand crocheted silver and gold plated bud cases, against a trio of sterling silver hawthorn leaves. Crocheted by hand and each set with freshwater pearls, every brooch is a one off. The gold picks up the light and sparkles around the soft glow of the creamy pearls. The 0.25mm gold wire is ever so slightly faceted as it's worked, so as it twists and turns to make the bud casing, it catches the light, bouncing it around the pearl, enhancing the pearl's natural glow. 

The embossing process destroys the lace, so each panel of each cufflink is unique. Available to order in silver or gold. Cufflinks are a time honoured piece of men's jewellery, and lace jewellery is not just for women after all.  Although now more and more women (including myself) choose to wear cufflinks. In settings where bracelets and rings are not appropriate, cufflinks make an excellent alternative as a touch of daily luxury. In solid sterling silver or white gold these cufflinks are reminiscent of the knarled bark of an ageing silver birch, the surface texture shimmering, but rich and deep.
