Fine silver is 999, which means 99.9% pure. It is whiter than sterling silver, so it catches the light differently, glistening around and enhancing the pearl. At a total  length of 17" (43cm), the necklace sits gracefully on the neck, at a level which suits most necklines. This is not a standard length you will find in the shops, but I find 16" is often too short, and 18" too long, so my default necklace length is 17". It's just right.
